The Wild Days guide
A fantastic beach that keeps its tradition but caters for everyone. Seatown is located near the small village of Chideock. It’s situated in the middle of two high valleys which give it some shelter from the East and Westerly winds.
On entry to the beach you’ll find a car park, you couldn’t get any closer to the beach if you tried. At the time of writing (March 22) the price was £5 for the day.
The beach is recognised for having a rich history of Fossils, buried into the crumbling cliffs. You’ll see many groups researching the rocks and making new finds annually as the cliffs decay further inland.
On a calm summers day it’s simply unbeatable. Whilst it gets busy, the beach has ample room for hundreds of families to find a decent space. With toilets close by, you’ll be good with young children however be prepared to queue for them during busy times.
Depending on the tide, the beach shelves-off fairly steeply into the sea. Be aware with younger children as if swept in it’s not easy to get back on your feet. There isn’t a lifeguard service either.
With regards to accessibility, it’s great around the beach however there isn’t any easy access directly to the beach. There is a lovely beer garden within the grounds of The Anchor pub which overlooks the beach.
